I do love the amazing quality, but is there a reason each track is looped like 10 times?

I'd like to know that, since, in my opinion (and maybe others' as well), looping something 10 times is not only pointless and, let's be frank, quite boring and repetitive, it also takes up an unnecessary amount of space. If you, like me, like any looping video game tune to be no more than 2 loops, with fade-out at the start of the 3rd loop, then for a song to be over 8 minutes, the it should consist of 2 loops of roughly 4 minutes long. Take Sonic 3D's Green Hill Zone Act 2 from the Genesis version. This has a length of something like 4 minutes, 12-15 seconds or so, until it loops straight from the very beginning, thus with 2 loops, it's about 8 minutes 30 seconds or so, but most songs in Sonic 1 - 3 are less than a minute, with a few just over a minute. The longest I believe is Ice Cap Zone Act 2, at about 1:37 in length, but even then, with 2 loops plus fadeout, this is not even 4 minutes, let alone 8 minutes.
In short, it's OK if the song IS expanded, but it's not REALLY expanded if it's just repeated over and over.
This represents a song from sonic:
[SONG] <-- very short
This represents, IMO, an expanded version:
[-----S------O------N------G------] <-- very long but not repetitive
However, you seem to have done this:
[SONG][SONG][SONG][SONG][SONG] <-- the same thing over and over
If you want to feel the true horror of things that are short but repeat over and over, play a 99-minute Brawl on the 75m stage with 25m selected as the music, or just go to sound test, play 25m, and just leave it on XD

Well said, 2 loops and fade at the start of the 3rd is the best to go for 8/16-bit tunes. For some that are very short but ridiculously awesome (like the boss music from Batman Returns for Super Nintendo (

The Ultimate Koopa & silenig, I thank you that you've have taken the time to voice your opinions, you've obviously given them a lot of thought and I respect your opinions so I hope you can respect mine ... I'm not here to annoy anybody but you two have gone as far as urinating on me for this one soundtrack, if you don't like this edition then that's fine ... my thanks to the others who have been simple in their responses and have enjoyed this soundtrack regardless of its size

I love the soundtrack. But can I please ask, why are they looped about 10+ times? The reason there's no point in having them loop for that long is that to be honest, not many people will listen to Green Hill Zone for 8 minutes, but that may just be my opinion.

Sorry for the late reply. I wasn't happy that the official album version is so short. When I'm playing the game, I like listening the music and each zone music will last however long it takes for you to complete ... that's a pretty good reason and I'm sure I'm not alone there. Initially it wasn't my intention for each most 'Zone' tracks to be around 10 minutes, Green Hill Zone on the rough cut came out that long and I enjoyed listening to it and so it stuck and the whole thing came out as well as it did quality wise that I felt like sharing ... is that wrong of me.
If you want a copy, please do, cut it the way you see fit or find another ... I'll leave it up to you

Well, maybe my post was a bit rude, sorry. This is a classic case of YMMV (
