Well,we have an official SamSho thread and an official KOF thread. It only makes sense to start an FF thread. And I don’t know about you guys,but for me searching for Fatal Fury OSTs has always been a tremendous pain in the ass. My FF collection is pretty modest,but I’ll upload what I can. The rest is up to you guys. If you have any of the stuff not uploaded in this thread,feel free to contribute. =)

Oh,and another thing – I will only be uploading the official,properly tagged OSTs and ASTs. No rips. Also,I will not be uploading the Garou Densetsu 15th Anniversary Boxset. If you manage to get a hold of the actual OSTs and compare them to the tracks contained the GarouDen boxset,you will definitely notice that the originals are far superior in quality. I have no idea why that is. It’s the same story with the SamSho Anniversary Collection.

Yeah,actually. The MI2 version of Rock’s theme is probably the overall best out of the ones that I have. I’m still not exactly sure which version I like more – the OST or the AST one.

And honestly, Spread the Wings is really blatant plagiarism of Robert Miles’ "Children." The refrain, at least. Even the arpeggiated harmony is identical.

EDIT: The only iffy thing I noticed about your rip so far is that the tracks look three times. Two seems to be the unspoken standard,unless the trck is really short. Other than that,it sounds great. And thanks for taking the time to tag it properly. =)

As far as quality is concerned,FFS OST actually has the overall highest-quality versions of Mai’s,Big Bear’s,Geese’s and some other themes. The other albums that feature those exact same tracks (Fatal Fury 2 OST and disc 2 of the Anniversary set) sound noticeably more muffled.

While we’re at it,other omissions so far are Fatal Fury Real Bout Special Arrange and Fatal Fury Last Resort (whatever the hell that is). Anybody got those?

Yeah I’m the original poster of those Cyber Cassette Collection Tape rips. It’s a one of a kind rip which was from a rare drama cassette tape. I actually have both volumes if you’re interested in Volume 1 being reposted.

I don’t really know if Tape really needs huge bitrates, but as usual i’d sure take any good VBR rip as old CBR ones..

I’d rather you didn’t, as other than the LB2 OST (which I stupidly never bought), I’m ripping directly from my retail discs, and I’m trying to unify all of the track listings, because most of the English-translated track listings I’ve seen are horrible. If you have a higher-quality rip of the LB2 OST than 128kbps, though, I’d appreciate it. I planned to start uploading tonight.

I took a closer look at the Garou AST rip that Forest uploaded. Quality-wise,it’s excellent. However,upon closer examination I ran across some minor problems.

Things I fixed:
-The looping tracks only loop twice now,not three or four times.
-Some of the tracks (Wilderness Policeman,Bad Girl,Invincible Mask and a couple of others) had noticeable stutters. I did my best to eliminate them.
-Some tracks have long,long silences after they end. I got rid of those.

On the plus side,all this editing forced me to closely listen to the entire soundtrack. I have a couple of new favorites now. =)

What is this one supposed to be? Seems like the OST to the very first Fatal Fury,but I’m not entirely sure.

Alright,let’s cover what else we’re missing. I checked HG101’s Fatal Fury article and came up with a couple of things.

1) Apparently,the first Fatal Fury never got an official AST. However,there apparently was a PC-Engine CD port.

A brand new arranged soundtrack was made for this version, since there was never a full arrange soundtrack for this game, the Neo CD version simply uses recordings from the arcade game.

2) Unless Last Resort is it,we still don’t have the OST for the original FF.

3) Turns out there also was a PC-Engine CD port of Fatal Fury 2.

It looks better and plays smoother than either of the home ports, and it includes a completely new arranged soundtrack different from SNK’s version for the Neo CD release.

5) Fatal Fury Special. Same deal.

The PC Engine Arcade CD version was also handled by Hudson, and is probably again the best of all of the conversions, featuring fairly accurate graphics and gameplay. It also features another completely original arrange soundtrack.

6) Speaking of Special,was there an AST for it besides the two Image Albums?

7) Fatal Fury Real Bout Special: Dominated Mind,an enhanced PSOne port of FFRBS. I think there was a small Extra Tracks archive on Shadowhaxor or something.

Got that one too. Someone here uploaded a full rip a while back,so I ran it against the AST and downloaded the repeating tracks,leaving only the unique arranges which aren’t featured anywhere else. Gimme some time to re-tag that them properly,and we’ll have Fatal Fury 3 EXTRA TRACKS unofficial album on our hands. =)

I also did the same thing for the rips of the Saturn versions of Real Bout Fatal Fury and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special,but those require some more work to weed out the repeats.

again if you have a very good version of the rip, VBR or 320 + Pics & m3u, why not.
otherwise i do mine ;). also any help to find & select the unreleased tracks of the official AST with this FF3 SAT Redbook will cool,
also i’m afraid that this Redbook won’t be loopable at all, but it’s 3min a stage tarck, so it’s not too bad (from the Off. AST, Terry Stage is 3.30 intead of 3.00 approximatively on Redbook.

I also did the same thing for the rips of the Saturn versions of Real Bout Fatal Fury and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special,but those require some more work to weed out the repeats.Saturn Redbook for the RBFF can’t be looped, as for the NGCD. the music don’t do a loop, frustating thing when the fadeout is starting and the music is continuing to play…. dude,you got something wrong,this is not my topic.I’m just helping out with my rips and albums that’s all 🙂 but if you ask my opinion,it’s not necessary to add more than AST albums and arcade OST albums.Cuz i just listen arranged soundtracks with real instruments 🙂 but your idea will be great for collectors

See,that’s exactly what I said in my opening post. The whole point of this thread was to categorize and provide the FF fans with official soundtracks,because there is a stupid amount of FF rips floating around,causing insane amounts of frustration and confusion.

Thing is,I think at this point we have uploaded pretty much every actual official OST and AST,so the only thing left is to start posting the rips. =) It’s a given that home versions of FF games on disc-based consoles usually come with arranged soundtracks. However,they usually include arranged versions of the select screen music,the VS screen music,etc. These are almost never featured on the ASTs. That is why I’m a fan of the "Extra Tracks" approach when it comes to those rips,when the rip only includes tracks which aren’t featured anywhere on the official albums. After all,there’s no need for a complete rip,since most of the tracks can also be found on the AST,and usually in a substantially higher quality.

Simon,you seem much more knowledgeable when it comes to Fatal Fury music than I am,so I’ll just upload the extra track compilations from the ports that I managed to amass,and you’ll get to decide if they’re definitive and whether they deserve to be officially posted in this thread. Here’s what I got:

Well, with arranged version, I refer to the rips of the ps2/dc version (I don’t Know). In the main post appears this rips. but only appears the character themes, both staff rolls (The good and Bad Ending) both titles, the menu, How to Play and the selection screen, but nothing about the endings themes

I hope that this endings had arranges themes, because in the OST they were pretty cool (Specially the Hotaru and Rock ones)

BTW, million Thanks for the PC engine Tracks, somehow, they are better than the ast released by SNK (unless the Wolfgang Theme, I found it pretty bland compared with the AST one)

One last question, there is any difference with the Garou Densetsu Special Version from the SEGA CD?

It doesn’t exist on any media… unless Megumi Yuki gets contracted to do it for a CD. I’m not sure why she didn’t do it in the first place, unless it had something to do with the parent company she worked for and they couldn’t secure the rights to release it on the CD. Sometimes that happens. :-\
