Tornado Man theme is my favourite, but the rest of stages are just as amazing. I want to hear those four Wily stages and check if they live to the legendary Wily Fortress 1 from Megaman 2.
I think it's my favourite classic Megaman soundtrack since Megaman 2.

To sidestep the discussions for or against 8-bit graphics and music, I think Sherlocks fundamental, unfiltered, point was that this is a thread to discuss the release of the OST. The discussion of the game's specific art-style may be a valid one, but it's not for this thread. He could've delivered his point a bit better, but I think he's right.
(An odd first post for someone new to these forums, but I just felt I had to point that out.)
To specifically mention the OST, though, I think the idea that intentionally going 8-bit is 'cheap' is a bit too simplistic. This has been debated over and over since Mega Man 9's announcement but Capcom simply decided to go 8-bit as an artistic choice, not due to monetary or technical limitations. If that's not the style you personally prefer, that's fine, but it doesn't necessarily make the music cheap or bad.

If you're talking about composition, I think it's done fairy well. As far as it sounds... well 8 bit is cheap. It was great back in the 80's when it was accepted. But seriously, do I want to hear that now? Anyway because this game has Rockman 9 slapped on it will sell regardless. I'm just not happy with Capcom's decision behind it.
To further my argument, take a look at Bionic Commando Rearmed. That's a perfect example of an 8 Bit game redone for this age properly. It's not that hard and you get a lot more people on board who're happy with what they've done.

@Lawrence:
No, I don't have anything against critisizing Capcom's decision. Holy Hateboyism.
However, a few things:
1.) Before verbally screwing over a game, fucking play it. It could be good. That's the way I found out that Megaman Battle Network was actually not a bad series. You can't judge a game on what you saw on two screenshots and a trailer video.
2.) Unfortunately, I have seen too much people going "Bah, that game is bad, it has bad graphics!", people like these denying the quality of e.g. System Shock 2. And people playing utterly shitty games with good graphics like UT3 and saying they're masterpieces. It pisses me off to no end if people are like "Ew, pixels!". I too enjoy good graphics, however, only if they're attached to a good game.
3.) I am, if a fan, then a fucking fangirl.
4.) That guy didn't do anything else than fucking rant about how Capcom decided to make that game 8-Bit. Each of his 5 posts in this thread were only like "Capcom is so cheap, and they make Megaman worse, and it's like totally crap even though I've never played the game and don't even know shit about it because it's not released yet!". I like Megaman and Capcom and I think it's freaking brave to release an 8-Bit Game in this generation of games and gamers. But it fits absolutely to Capcom. And that's why I'm defending that game.

Where did he say you're not a fan? What he said is that you're not in their target demographic which is plainly obvious by your hijacking of this thread for the purposes of bitching.
I think the creators of MM9 have justified making this game perfectly well: It's cost-effective because of the advent of widespread digital distribution of content (hence easier to sell the idea to the Capcom execs who would otherwise not greenlight a more expensive but modern interpretation of the classic Megaman experience), both the designers and the target audience (a significantly large one, in fact) love and appreciate the retro feel of the NES Megaman, and furthermore, it's been made clear in interviews by both Inafune and the art designers for this game that they consider the 8-bit aesthetic a legitimate art style, and why not? 8-bit graphics and sound produce a certain feel that modern technology just can't replicate.

There's lots of people who prefers the punch of the 8-bit sound chips and compositions (PC-Engine, Famicom, Genesis...) over the rest, that's why there are fansites devoted to "arranging" into 8-bit music, several 8-bit music programs (Famitracker for example) and the like. For some it may be "cheap", but for we fans of the old music is like a dream made true.
momohan

The most hilarious part is that it wasn't cheap at all. Capcom specifically reverse engineered the old games and replicated the technology from the '80s as well as possible (considering that the original components could not be replaced). It was, in fact, more expensive to make "Rockman 9" authentically 8-bit than it would've been to make a 32-bit-esque/3D downloadable title.
"Old" does not necessarily equal "inexpensive," especially when it comes to discontinued hardware, software, lost methods, et cetera.

Nintendo Power's Interview with K.I. has him quoted with the following:
"I wouldn't mind making a sequel for any of the Mega Man series, not only the classic one. But because the original Mega Man series started around the same time I entered Capcom, any desire to make a sequel for that series is particularly strong.
Unfortunatle the simple fun of a classic Mega Man game doesn't fit into the grandiose and expansive world that the consumer gaming industry has become, and so you have to make games that match the current expectations. If you did push to have a game like the classic Mega Man games made, it would be critisized for things like being too simplistic, outdated, or too expensive. I thought it would be too difficult to bring out another classic Mega Man in the current gaming climate.
And then Nintendo came out with WiiWare for distributing downloadable content, and I felt I had an opportunity to finally realize the dreams I had been keeping on the back burner for so long.
I think WiiWare offers a great combination of simple games at a low price. And as fate would have it, the Virtual Console is causing people to reevaluate the classic games for the NES and such, and to see what made them good.
Our intent was to make a simple and enjoyable Mega Man sequel so we said,"Let's make a new NES game!" and from there the ball got rolling."
So it was and is a matter of monetary and artistic factors that have MM9 being what it is, and as a huge fan of the classic series, I'm grateful for this choice. MM7 was graphically appealing but too sluggish on the control. MM8 was graphically nice as well, cutscenes and all, but they tried to cram too much into it. Out of the 8 classic games, I like 7 and 8 the least.
Music-wise, I love chiptune and this OST, even though it's ripped from the 5 YTV's, still rocks all the 8-bit balls. Can't wait for the actually OST to surface.

Don't get me wrong! I'm not questioning your fandom. It's just that the vast majority of fans are going wild for this, want this, and have desired this for years. Capcom delivering doesn't make this cheap or a cop-out in any way. It just means they're giving [the majority of] fans what they want.

If you have nothing else to do than fucking bitch about Capcom's and Inafune's decision to make Rockman 9 8-Bit, then get the hell out of this thread. Seriously, dude. Shut up.
You really have no idea how pleasing it is for people like me, who prefer Oldskool games, to see Capcom doing the first step again and returning to it. You don't want to play the game because you're a graphic whore who thinks games with bad graphics suck? Noone is asking you to download the freaking game, and noone is asking you to play it. Noone is asking you to download the music, either.
Shut up and get out of here, asshole.
As for being ontopic:
Thanks for sharing the link. I can't wait for the complete OST and the remastered one.
i <3 you :)

For those who enjoyed the soundtrack included with the 8-bit Rockman 7 fan project, I thought I'd take the time to rip it to MP3s and upload it for you guys.

None of the links here seem to work. They do lead to Mega Man/Rockman sites, yes, but I can't see any "download the Mega Man 9 soundtrack" buttons or anything like that.
The blue-bomber link only gives me a page with "Rockman 9 - Original Soundtrack (album)" written at the top, but not much else. No tracklist, no text, no place I can click to download it.

If I'm not mistaken it's not quite ready yet, still in the works. Wonder how they'll get the snowboarding bit to look...

Sonicandtails dropped the link above since the site is not working. Use that for the soundtrack. Personally, I love the music in this game. It also helps that I have an affinity towards 8-bit styled music. The game is a total win IMO.

For the record, Capcom of Japan brought down their mighty hammer on us, so for now The Mega Man Network no longer has the Mega Man 9 soundtrack available. Sorry folks.
