As far as I know, this hasn't been posted here yet. It's been posted in LJ comms, on my devART, and KRR, and someone at the last place suggested I post it up here, so... okay!

Sendspace link (http://www.sendspace.com/file/hy0hzy)

These were originally GSFs dumped by Kauri using Saptapper. I tagged/timed the GSF set, then encoded 'em to mp3 using Razorlame. Track 55, "Aftermath", wasn't in the GSF set I received, so I ripped that one using an emulator. There are also 2 unused songs and an S.E. Collection (if you think the name is obnoxiously long, it was done after the style of the S.E. collection track from Fuurai no Shiren; you can always rename it anyways), the last of which I ripped individual wavs for and put together myself.

So uhh... if there's anything else I need to say about this, or if the Sendspace link expires, ask away. Also, yo.

EDIT: Sendspace link for self-extracting archive, (http://www.sendspace.com/file/4tsasd) if you are having any problems with extraction at all from the ZIP archive.

I don't want the whole thing. Just the boss songs and the credit ending. So... any suggestions?

hey RAT, DS or GBA rip?

Rat

Encoded from a GSF rip, therefore... ripped from the GBA version. Really, if there's any difference in quality, it's going to be very slight, as both versions have identical tracks.

Whew, Thanks a lot, man!
Great upload, but I have a problem extracting a file from the archive.
It's the S.E. Collection thingy. It says that the file name must not be longer than 260 characters. So I cant get that file out of the archive. xD
Any chance to get this?

Download the rip, delete the songs you don't want, and keep the ones you do want.

But thanks much for uploading this! ^_^

The problem with extracting/playing the S.E. collection file boggles me, as I'm on an outdated computer with an outdated OS, using outdated programs to get my archiving done, and people with better setups either can't play the file in its original naming format, or can't extract it at all, while I have no problems. *shrug* Can you rename the file within the archive, to trim it down some before extracting it?

Also, I just tried converting the ZIP file to a self-extracting archive in WinRAR, and the S.E. came out fine with that. Check back in a bit; I'm going to upload the archive to Sendspace, and you can try that and tell me if it works (I understand I could simply rename the file, but as long as I don't know why some people are having problems extracting or playing the file with its original filename, I'm going to assume it's their system's problem and not mine, and leave it as is).

Well not really, the DS version of the game sounds way better than the GBA version. Can you do something about this, rip the DS version? But thanks anyways dude for the GBA version.

I'm not doing this rip ALL over again for identical tracks. :P Besides, even if there WAS a DS emulator with fully functional sound, I wouldn't be able to get the two unused songs out of it, anyway.

Please bear in mind that I'm not doing this JUST for you, or any individual person. I made this gamerip for the PMD fandom; Japanese and English-speaking fans of the game alike have been wanting this for months or longer.

What's with the double and triple posting?

There's no need to get upset. To answer your questions, I own PMD Red and have played it to death since before I even owned the actual cartridge, and I won't be convinced there's such a huge difference in sound quality unless you give me examples. You're the first I've seen to claim there's a significant difference in sound quality between the DS and GBA games, but I stand by my point that the tracks ARE the same, even if the sound is processed a little differently between the two handhelds.

I don't see the point in changing the file name unless I know the whole story. Were you unable to extract it, or just unable to play it? What program are you using to extract it, and are you trying to extract it with all the other files at once, or just that one file by itself? Is it your OS giving you the error, your archive-extracting program, or your media player?

I'm going to have to agree with Rat on this situation. While I haven't played the DS version, it would be better to be given samples showing why it MIGHT be better than the GBA version.

(This reminds me. Was the Gamecube version of Zelda:TP of lower sound quality by any chance?)

04-04-2007, 02:08 AM
Well play the DS version and you will see they dont sound the same.
Why the double posting and triple posting you ask, well simple, cause i want to.
And to answer that last post, i used winrar to extract the file, it extracted all the rest of the files but not that specific file (S.E. Collection blah blah blah, gosh thats a really long name). When i try extracting that one file, my PC crashes and i end up restarting it.

Fine, I'll attend to this matter and try it myself. If it weren't for me considering getting Pokemon Pearl, I would consider getting this game.

Well to answer that Zelda question, i have not played either of those so i dont know. I am not the person who goes for one thing and votes for it without playing the other version.

Its just sad that people compare the GBA sound effects to the sound effects of the most dominated handheld system ever, the DS.

S.E Collection - This is what I shortened the title to. Having a title as long as this CAN create errors for certain archivers or OS.

In any case:

I didn't notcie this post at first, but I should let you know that this is a particularly uncommon situation (not counting GB & GBC Pokemon Gold and Silver). Sometimes there are cases when there is no need to make noticably high differences in sound quality.

Having some respect for Pokemon games, I might fully attend to this situation if I am interested enough in this game, but there is no need to have this sort of misunderstanding.

Hey Rat, I was wondering.

I hae a pogram that plays GSF files. Downloading the MP3s with my Dial-up computer will take forever so I was wondering. Can you send me the GSF files of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon? Please and thank you?

Thanks for posting that, Sky Wing. I've been ignoring this topic recently because of a couple certain whiny children. >.> That also happens to be the GSF set I timed and tagged, after Kauri ripped it and sent it to me. :B It's sure to stay active, if it shows up on Google easily enough.

As for playing both versions: it'd be nice to have both versions, in a perfect world, but I don't have parents that run around buying me everything I scream at them for, so I picked one.
