I still remember enjoying this film in the theater one summer about 20 years ago.

After a very entertaining film, the end credits started their trip and then, nearly alone in the cinema, one of the most powerful, simple and beautiful end credits themes by the maestro emerged in its full power, taking me nearly to tears: unable to move from there, unable to stop listening, just wishing the music will never end, which, in fact, was accomplished inside my head.

With just 19 years I was then unable to understand how could anyone have the gift of such a talent to make me feel those emotions, nearly getting me embarrassed: too young, nearly alone and nearly broken to tears after a pure-entertaining, action-nearly-comedic film for kids!!!!

Goldsmith was my favorite composer when entering the cinema, but he became more than (not sure if i could find the words) after that magical moment. (Un)fortunately, born in 1980, I was not able to enjoy in full cinema scope most of Goldsmith gems, so this is one of my unforgettable scarce musical treasures.

Amazing, unbelievable, not sure if I would ever feel that again in this life :(

This score and this film is a guilty pleasure of mine, so it holds a special place in my heart.

Thank you so much for this, KevinG. I'd already checked out the other version here and the first thing I heard was some kind of static on the first cut, just when the music gets really loud. The static is still there on your version, tho' not so pronounced. Turns out now that there is a long discussion about this on the Film Score Monthly site. For me, this soundtrack is one of my all time favorites, and when my wife has left the building, it's one like the Rolling Stones mono or Prague's Conan the Barbarian, that just begs to be cranked up in volume until the windows rattle. And that's when the static or whatever it is is really noticeable. I don't know anything about audio engineering, but to me it seem analogous to trying to using a program to increase resolution of a graphic image and going so far that the pixellation becomes obvious. It's like whoever engineered this album went too far in trying to increase the resolution of the music, to the point where, in at least the loud bits, things start to break down. Apparently none of this is audible on the original soundtrack version on disk 2. Some on the FSM site are already wondering whether to lobby Intrada for replacement fixed disks. Somehow I don't think that's very likely to happen. As I said in the other thread, hoping SonicAdventure or someone can once again work their incredible magic on this. It is a very favorite soundtrack, and to me, given the pure pleasure in listening to the rest of it, the noise is a minor irritant. Still...

But this is a great upload! As always, thank you so much for letting us have a chance to listen to this. Marvelous sound notwithstanding and a wonderful treat. Repping you yet again now.
