Hi all, my first post here.

I’ve got a few 1992 articles on Final Fantasy V.

Interesting stuff. Personally, I’m kind of glad that the game didn’t come out in the States until the PSX era. The characters and story are what made a lot of American gamers fall in love with FF4 and FF6. FF5’s characters are charming and its story is serviceable, but it’s definitely not as memorable as the other two. That said, I have great memories of playing this one when the Anthology set was released. For me, it was a huge breath of fresh air after trudging through FF8, which was fun to play but left me feeling exhausted with its dreary setting and characters. As an adult gamer, I’d actually rank this one even with FF6 as my favorites in the series.

I find it interesting that they tried to tie the storyline to FF4. I have to imagine that was just a Gamepro writer thing, but it’s interesting that they felt they needed to make that assertion.
