We're not really out to stop this, just for people posting mirror links to do it in an already existing thread. This only really applies to newer releases that get posted within a week or two of each other. Not really going to set a time limit on it, if you're reposting something you know someone else already posted, then post it in their thread and just give credit or whatever. The bit rates need to be the same too, if there's a different bit rate, then a new thread would be ok.

Also, while the posting of mirror links is ok in already created threads for the soundtrack in question, there's just one rule that we ask you follow when doing so. These new guidelines are not to discourage people from posting links, it's just a way to keep the forums a bit cleaner and to respect original posters of the music. If you see people posting dupe threads, just give them a friendly reminder, no need to chew them out about it, it'll take a while for people to get used to this.


So i wondering why some people protect this guy & make circus from this beauty forum.
Instead punishment because violation of rules, he becomes awarded by some people here.
When some member reported to moderators violation of rules, they he provided new places on forum and regularly removed

thing, turned it into an MP3, mirrored it in an anonymous, unoriginal thread, is obviously
making money-per-click, and receives thanks for his efforts. Meanwhile, the people who put
in the trouble, who work for the community, and don't entirely like that sort of
behaviour... receive the tired old "we're all pirates, you can't expect honour among
thieves" lecture and then are basically told to shut up.
Those people wonder why their efforts are treated with such apparent disdain by FFShrine's
staff when it is their efforts that create and maintain the community, and they wonder why
Tapoktro is given free reign - and is even defended by moderators, whilst those same
moderators attack those people for their hypocrasy and even say that Tapoktro is in the
clear because he is frequently cheered. It doesn't matter whether he's doing something
wrong, only that if what he does is popular then it should continue. The very first post
in this thread states that "more people thank him than condemn him", crediting the
original poster is "not feasible", complaints are made "for no real reason", that the
complainers are lowering themselves and "make no sense" - then the complainers are
explicitly told they will not be listened to or treated fairly ("Post all you want. I'll
only read keywords."), personally insulted ("It's not like any of you have the
intellectual capacity to convey a real thought."), and then threatened with banning.
That sort of attitude - and THIS sort of thread which doesn't pay even SIMPLE LIP SERVICE
to people's concerns and low morale - is what makes people say things like "I'm leaving".
Even if somebody official said "I understand that this pisses you off, because sometimes
you work really hard on a post and it hurts you to see it immediately appropriated and
used to line somebody's pockets, but we just can't do anything about that" that would at
least be SOMETHING.
We're talking about somebody who has done it EIGHT THOUSAND TIMES (literally; check his
post count) - seven times a day for the past three years - to me, to you, to DAK, to
everybody who ever worked on an upload or went the extra mile to make something a little
bit special. The issue at this point is, I think, probably less about Tapoktro and what he
actually DOES (seeing some of the recent posts which state things like "MP3s will be
provided when Tapoktro steals my upload tomorrow" suggest, of nothing else, a quiet
acceptance) and more to do with the staff of FFshrine who don't appear to understand or
care why the stuff he does pisses so many people off - and why the anti-Tapoktro folk have
to fight tooth and nail for some kind of official acknowledgement of their problem, but
Tapoktro receives defence when he doesn't even participate in the discussion. That he will
continue to post download links but won't participate in a conversation which ATTACKS HIM
PERSONALLY should tell you all you need to know about what his priorities are - Upload
everything, make money, sod off until somebody posts something, repeat.
I don't question that he isn't breaking the rules as they stand - I posit that perhaps
this situation is not necessarily one which should be completely deferred to the rule book;
perhaps fluffier concepts like humanity and decency should be considered. It is, after all,
humanity and decency that leads to sharing. I say again; why is the focus on attacking
Tapoktro's detractors and defending Tapoktro? Why are people who complain about Tapoktro
threatened with banning in the same breath that Tapoktro's actions are officially sanctioned?
I repeat my earlier statement:

Mirrors and encodes are one thing - I don't think there's one of us who has never re-

difference between that mentality and the mentality which re-encodes and re-uploads
EVERYTHING, ALWAYS, at the speed of light, exclusively for financial benefit.
When the forum doesn't make that distinction, it makes the good people believe that their
efforts aren't noticed or appreciated.
I haven't got a single issue with Sparktank or any other moderator - and I respect the
work they put in... I do, for what it's worth, think that the official line being taken
here, whilst undeniably consistent with what's in the rulebook, treats the people here -
for we ARE people, living breathing humans sitting here behind our screen names -
unnecessarily harshly."

I may not know a bit rate from a jpeg or the difference between lossless and lossfound, but I sure would love to talk about movies with you folks. What makes a soundtrack integral to a film's fabric? Or is it just aural wallpaper telling an audience how to feel and think with every move of the camera? (See the insufferable Suffragette for a textbook example.) What is it about a violin that when in the hands of Bernard Hermmann transforms it into a lethal weapon? Anyone ever notice that Alfred Newman reused Ford's famous "Ann Rutledge Theme" three years later in "Belle Star"? I'd much rather talk about stuff like this than argure over ownership of music that none of us own the rights to.

Honestly, me too, it's already been obvious there's NOTHING that can be done. If you are worried of Tapoktro stealing your things, then simply ask him not to (Zaralyth did so and it worked wonders so far..) and protect your shares and make it to PMs only that way Tapoktro can't get your share.. simple as. Complaining when it's been said 200 times that nothing will be done about it, it's just plain rubbish

It is only the download section that has trouble keeping mods, and has the most pointless drama. The op is on a crusade. Since this is in the discussion forum, let him have at it. As long as he keeps it out of the dl section it is not harming us. If no one replies to the thread it will sink into oblivion and be irrelevant. By responding we are keeping it alive. As for bans, mods can do temporary bans and decide how long they will last. It happens a few times, mostly for flame wars. There are occasional perma-bans but Jessie dislikes doing that. It does happen though, such as williamtaylor. A thread discussion like this in other sections would be locked, yes. But not always in discussion where rules are a bit loser.

Listen, i know there are lots of people that hate what Tapoktro does. Even if i asked him to post all his stuff in new threads people will just troll his threads. The one rule he does break is the posting of banned material, such as Varese. He only takes it down if a mod says to. This is because he copies and pates links to multiple sites in one dump, without checking his work here. He could give a damn about the site or it's fate and that is now my main gripe against him.

Why get frustrated over monetized links? Linkbucks or ad.fly don't ever get any complaints, and yet they're just as invasive as uploaded.net's window popups. All it takes is an adblocker and a halfway decent antivirus program to overstep the annoying aspects. I'd personally be more bothered by the fact that, say, it takes 45 minutes to download a 130MB rar when it's 5 minutes tops in Mega or a similar hosting service.

Tapo really just needs to update to a better host and give credit where it's due (I know, it's happened to me before), but it's not that big of a deal in the long run. It's a lot like how KHI operates, yet people will continue to go there because the option exists. Nothing inherently wrong with that because sharing music that's otherwise unavailable or unattainable in your country is a blessing in itself.

I for one know that if I had managed to pull off the physically, intellectually and emotionally exhausting task of copying music on a computer and uploading it for free to a file sharing site I'd want credit for all my hard work and sacrifice. I was trusted here by someone out of nowhere with a RS and I've kept to my word, and that RS is to myself and only myself and will never be shared, traded or nowhere, EVER.
