Jupiter Ascending is the best score of the year so far, I hope this is at least as good! :)
And we Still have Jurassic World and Inside Out to look forward to!

Hoping something is "at least as good" as the best thing of the year is a lot of pressure, no? I'm about halfway through and it's great on its own. It's similar in a way to both Jupiter and John Carter, definitely maintains an old school hollywood vibe for thematic development and percussive action. The theme so far is very hopeful and optimistic. Feels like a great fit for what the movie is going for.

This is almost too happy of a soundtrack. Just finished listening to it for the first time. And without a doubt one of best scores of the year. It's just so fucking fun. I feel like half the tracks could just be a soundtrack for a rollercoaster ride through a futuristic city, they have that sort breathless sense of adrenaline and exhilaration. Last 3 tracks are great. But personal favorite is "What an Eiffel!"

Just like Giacchino's works in the previous Bird scores. There's a sense of fun and adventure. Between this one, and Jupiter Ascending, it's like he's shouting "Gimme a Star Wars movie!". And we still haven't got his other two scores, seems like Giacchino is going straight for his second Oscar.

I do not iike how underused the choir is, though, but it might be another Star Trek scenario.

Veeery curious about this! For me, Giacchinos "Jupiter Ascending" is this years best score, so far. I also love his work for last years "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes". He's one of the few composers these days, who I'm really waiting for his next score! :) - Thanks a lot for sharing, KevinG!!!

Thank you so much! The movie comes out today here, and I cant wait! Giacchino adds class to anything he scores, and sometimes its the only thing that does.

Don't you just love how Brad Bird used Basil Poledouris' Cherry 2000 as a temp track for Tomorrowland. All three main themes just keep popping up in Tomorrowland. Love the sense and wonder in both of these scores. Giacchino really knows how to borrow stuff from the old masters like Poledouris and Williams and make it still feel relevant today.
