I too keep my process a secret on how I remaster things and like you, some people will love what you did to the sound, some not. As long as you are happy with it, that's what counts. @Zaralyth: Thanks for the links! I gave some tracks a listen and I do like the sweetening of the sound. Since "remastering" is a VERY subjective matter, I will give my comments about what I would do to make it even more "remastered" based on my way of restoring a score.

Orchestral music in general has very dynamic range when it comes to volume. What I tend to do is make the quiet parts louder without trying to make the loud parts even louder. When doing that though, I have to go into the sound and clean up artifacts that arise when elevating the quiet parts... a time consuming process I can tell you!

The first track I listened to was "First Night" which when I saw the wave form, it was so small. Then I grabbed another one ("Shifu Flute...") and saw the difference in wave forms. One of my pet peeves with this kind of music in terms of listening enjoyment is the constant fight I have to do with the volume knob to hear all the intricate details of the score, soft or loud. So by trying to equate the levels more, it all becomes a more enjoyable listening experience in my opinion.

However, I do not believe in "brickwalling" sound just to make everything loud. No. Orchestral music needs dynamics but when you have a Zimmer score with those great dynamics, it is very annoying to keep turning the volume knob. I can take a few tracks from your set here and upload my work and you can hear what I am talking about if you wish. Just tell me...

Unlike many of the forum users here, I am not a "completist". I do not care about every little piece of music written for a movie. What I care about is quality over quantity. I would rather an OST score with less music but lossless from CD than a 128 kbps complete score with SFX of the same movie. I do enjoy taking a well done complete score with zero SFX and great orchestral sound and make it even better (I might want to tackle this with a few complete scores I have listened to recently and give it back to the original poster and see if they'd want to add it to their original post or if I can start a new one and credit them as the source of the music... we'll see).

Other than that, keep up the great work and make the scores the way YOU want. Your opinion comes first... every one else's comes second always.

I usually don't take much notice between FLAC and MP3 because they essentially sound the same, or just fake lossless scores. However, in this one, there is a true difference!

A New Hope has been the hardest by far, because of the quality of the source material, which isn't great, considering it was recorded, oh, 30 to 40 some-odd years ago. But it works!
