Sorry, but all tracks except 1 are mono. Either Laserlight didn't know what they had or decided to label their release as "stereo" since Pia Zadora's vocal was stereo (the only track that is). This is consistent with the history of the recording. The score was first released in stereo on LP, then on a Dagored CD which used a poor-sounding stereo LP as its source. Prometheus used the original tapes when it released an expanded CD version later, but all score tracks were mono. Prometheus stated the stereo masters could not be found, except for Zadora's vocal which had been stored in a different place. I was hoping this Laserlight version was different, which is why I posted my inquiry, but it turns out to be just like the Prometheus CD. One good thing is that it does include 8 tracks not found on the original LP (but all mono). The score is one of Morricone's prettiest. Too bad the stereo masters are missing!

Interesting, I didn't know this history, in the liner notes don't mention that, and yes they labeled their release as "stereo", the curious thing about it is that I didn't notice after a lot of listenings and I consider myself an "Expert" being a Musician myself, I'll pay more attention in my next listening.

I think some mono sounds pretty good and might seem "stereo" if listening through speakers. Using headphones is the best way to know for sure. The only reason I know anything about the history of the score is because I've always liked it and have waited for a stereo version to appear on CD. I guess I'll just keep waiting! In the meantime, the mono on this Laserlight release is good quality (not from an LP), and it is all that's currently available! Thank you for sharing it.
