there are a lot of good reasons i can see :

- His shares : his rules : where are your shares by the way ?
- A public link can be caught by a bot and posted everywhere else
- A public link can be seen and reported which lead to a non working link
- Unless you are able to get the private messages from this site, there is no real proof of any exchange of copyrighted materials.
- Maybe he doesn't want to give a link to people he doesn't like, or people who don't show a good image of themselves (*hint hint*)
