i heard that if you watch the stars at the end of the game for 40 hours then aeris will come back to life. IS this true.?

hell no, howz the game gonna knowyou've been watching the 'the end' screen for 40 hrs, besides everything you'll hear about reviving her, except for 'you can't' , is a rumor...

don't listen to this naysayer!!! actually if you leave the screen on for 99:59 (just like the counter in the game) (just leave your playstation on forever, and turn off the tv, and look back in just over 4 days! maybe 4 1/2 to be safe) and then press reset, and press new game and name all the characters you can name aeris, until you get to name aeris... name her aerith, and then the rest after her don't matter! then, when she dies, wait till the third disc, and go master a revive materia with the buster sword, and after it's mastered, you need roughly 40,000 AP (with the buster sword... easiest place is fighting magic pots in northern cave) and then your revive materia will gain another star and the resurrect ability... then you need underwater materia... and you need to buy the fish food from the shop in the far right of cosmo canyon (the one where you can get the fullcure materia) and in order to have them be able to sell it.. you must NOT have gotten the fullcure materia yet... the fish food is expensive... i needed to sell 2 mastered all materia to afford it...
then you need to have 4 tissues... go to the church in sector 5 (by aeris's house) and go to the middle bench on the left and use all 4 tissues (apparently cloud's crying over aeris!) and then check out her house, go in her room and walk around in there a lot! (i don't know why, but i couldn't get it to work unless i did this!)
now go to the forgotten city (where the fish was) and feed him fish food, and you can go down to the lower city where aeris was killed! then go to the altar (where she was killed) and cloud will mention something about her... then go to the front of the city (where the road splits in 3) and take the left fork, and go all the way into the 'temple' area... (the opposite of the side where you put the key in!) and go up to where the jewel thing is surrounded by the water coming down.. then go to the bottom, and you should be able to go underwater (with underwater materia equipped, and your special revive... both on buster sword) and then you will be able to search around for aeris, and you'll be able to resurrect her! then you can fight the weapons with invincibility!!! :D

sorry dude... i couldn't resist... that was a combination of a few different rumors i've heard... again, i apologise for the deciet... there is only one way to have her in your party after she dies, and that's with a gameshark! (but personally i'd rather have the highwind in my party!) sorry man!

But she can, all you have to do is send me $50 and your saved game will automatically be updated with her back in your party. For an extra $100 I can even alter it to put a Seph clone in your party as well.

People, use your common sense.
If you could revive Aeris, someone surely had done it already. And taken screenshots and posted them online. Six years after the game's release, you can be sure that if there was a way to revive her, we'd all have heard about it by now.

She's dead. I wonder why there are all these Aeris reviving rumours, but no rumours for all the other character deaths in the other FF games... ;_; Who started all this?!

I heard that too. And many other rumours that are not true... T_T Trust me, there are people who have actually played the Japanese version. There would be information other than vague rumours if it was true.

Um i discovered something really weird. It was some dialogue AFTER Aeris death. it was in the Great Glacier after you finish the snowboarding bit. (Note: I used a gameshark to revive her). She stood up and said "I'm sick of this". Upon further investigation i also dicovered this website with screenshots of this happening.

why do they have this after her death. maybe she was meant to be revived but Squaresoft ended up ditching it.

She wasn�t supposed to die in the beginnin but because of the producer�s experiences (someone close to him died) they also let Earis die or something, so this dialogue was in it before they decided that Earis was gonna die but never removed after deciding.

I agree. The game was a rush and it look likes its completed but not really. There really is a lot of cliff hanger and mysteries. About reviving Aeris, I would like to revived her but noooo...There's just a lot of rumors to take the hope of reviving her away. Trust me, I try each and every rumor and it sucks because its fake. Its possibly true that you can revived Aeris by the gameshark but I haven't try yet and until I do, I'll believe it for myself.
Anyway, how do we know she's really dead....(besides pointing out the part of disc one where she gets stabbed by Sephiroth...)...I thought its something like if she dies, her lifeforce or something would merge with the lifestream. Isn't that is what Nanaki's Grandpa said when he was explaining it to Cloud and the others or something like that. It sure look like it didn't at the end of disc 3, because she pray and then smile and the image of her body is there.:erm:

I suppose the snow-boarding minigame was programmed with the dialogues just written for all party members, without thinking about who'd still be alive when the player would actually come across the scene... Maybe they didn't even know where they'd put the game exactly, or rather when.
Maybe the minigames were produced seperately without paying attention to the main plot events at all. Who am I to know? :D

Anyway... I've heard this "unfinished" things concerning Chrono Trigger a lot. That stuff was left out etc. I don't think that means a game is "unfinished". Just that some ideas had to be dropped and some things changed because of disc space, deadlines or whatever. Seems to happen a lot, everywhere. Think of Deleted Scenes with movies.
However, I cannot imagine a FFVII with a living Aeris. Plotwise. Would it even make sense?

No.

Aeris needs to die in order to make the connection with the planet to bring Holy about to counter Meteor. If she were still alive, that link would not be there and the planet would not survive.

Go ahead and try this little rumor out, maybe your PS will die in the process lol. There is no way to revive Aerith without a Game Shark or some type of Character editor for the Pc version. Trust me I've searched for a way to revive Aeris since 1997 and I still haven't found a way, I've tried EVERY rumor that you can think of and none of them have worked, the weirdest thing I've found in the game so far is the fact that if you use a Gameshark to put Aeris back into your party on Disk 2 when you go to the Ice town and you snow board off the mountain AERIS will be standing there visible and she even has 2 or 3 lines that she says, this however is the only time in the last 2 disks that this little thing happens.

I found this a little weird as with the rest of the game when it shows all the party members standing Aeris normally is never shown because she isn't supposed to be there. If you don't believe me try it out or I can post a screen shot up of me doing it.

Is it true that Aeris wasn't supposed to die when first starting the game? If that's so, then that would explain the diolague, but you would think they would at least take the time to remove 2 lines! Are those the only lines she is able to say after her death?

Well also there are many areas in FFVII that are there but you cannot explore them, like was mentioned by another poster is that FFVII was rushed and wasn't completely finished. In the sleeping forest before the Ancient Ruins if you look to your right there is a Cave you can go partially into it but yet you cannot explore it. I have heard and read that this part of the game is one of the parts that weren't completed and the location of the cave where it brought you was underneath the Temple of the Ancients (Where Aerith rests now) where you could supposibly revive her. But of course you can't enter the cave so this won't work lol, but it's an interesting thing to think about.

As far as I can tell those are the only lines Aeris has after Disk 1. Although!! I used the cheat once again to put her in my party on Disk 3 on the fight against Sephiroth, and when Cloud goes 1 on 1 with Seph, Aeris was standing beside Cloud, lol.

The game data ison every disk. The first dick data is also on the second and third disk, 2nd dicks is also on firts and third and so forth. Im pretty sure of this. They did it cuz it was easier for al the characters, items, monsters etc since u can go any wheres around the world in any disk pretty much.

I think I see what you mean, I used the Debug room cheat on FFVII and I played Disk 3 the fight against Jenova and Sephiroth on Disk 1.
