Too bad because there is some great music in the film, exciting as well as heroic pieces I would love to have in great quality.

Thanks for that, was an excellent list - Jumpin Jack Flash by Thomas Newman aint there so that's promising. TERRIBLE about Ghostbusters II thought, just terrible.

Well there is still hope, since the Ghostbusters II elements are only missing, not confirmed destroyed. Look at the Conan score as proof that there definitely is still hope!

Conan is a different story. Apparently the tapes were there there whole time, just nobody bothered to look and relied on whether Basil had tapes.

I did this rip back in the day, was my first time using 5.1 dvd channels to get a score; It's missing a lot of music and it's edited heavily due to parts with too much sound effects draining out the music. I'm sure someone with more audio skills could do a better job and perhaps level out the music.

I shared it with one person on soulseek, seen it floating about for some time and low and behold today it ends up here :). The second score I did this way was the Exorcist III dvd channel rip that also survived online and there was even a guy in brazil selling bootlegs of it on ebay (which made me regret doing it). There is still a lot missing from both scores, simply because there was too much sound effects in certain cues. I didn't do any other scores after it, just too much time and the end result was more a teaser than something i'd listen to.

Lol Funny to see that I posted about there still being hope last November. That is why never say never is a good optimistic rule to adhere to.

Michael V. Gerhard aka 'MV', the man who operates LaLaLand who also frequents the FSM forums, dropped a hint a couple of days ago. Here is the exact quote:

"I would bet good money another release of Ghostbusters and a debut release of Ghostbusters 2 happening this year to coincide with their respective anniversaries"

When people started asking questions, he playfully posted a meme basically saying he has to play dumb for now.

By the way, this is why a person supports a label by buiying the release as opposed to downloading it off somebody for free; the time and effort they put in, that often leads to finding missing tapes -- meanign we get a score we might not otherwise get. The tiem and effort locating elements for a complete score, which sometimes isn't always there and they have to hunt down from other places; tiome consuming and costly.

So, for the pesky missing tapes problem, we can say, thanks to them, "We came, we saw, we kicked it's ASS!!!"

This seems likely, watching the Ghostbusters II blu ray special features the other day an noticed they had some of the score playing, hopefully get some more news soon.

Ghostbusters and GB2 were supposed to come out on Madison Gate during Sony's obsession with all things Ghostbusters. Initially we were going to do GB2, then in his excitement Mr Edelman spoke with a top exec at Sony who put the kibosh on LLL doing the project stating all things GB should be kept in house. Things might be different now. We'll see.

you only want what you can't have. personally i really don't think it's that great a score. We have just finally put to bed the first Ghostbusters which is far far superior.

True, but any kind of unreleased Edelman material is good enough. Sure, it’s not one of his best to some people, but like I said, unreleased is better

Edit: also, I’ve come to a possible realization that these “original recordings” might not exist. He just states he has it, but in reality, it’s a hoax, and it won’t be released until the actual company releases said material... who am I to judge right?

Sony isn't licensing to third parties anymore. So unless they release the score, uit's not happening any time in the foreseeable future.

The closest we’ll get is the bootleg(45 tracks) I posted a while back
