The 25th Reich

Introducing a crazy new genre mash-up from Australian director, Stephen Amis (The Real Thing, The Alive Tribe, Oz Encounters, UFO’s in Australia).

Four years in the making, and featuring an international cast, state of the art digital effects, and classic vintage styling, The 25th Reich is a rollicking, WWII sci-fi adventure - full of time-travel, duplicitous Nazi robots, faulty spaceships and giant mega-fauna...

Based on the classic novella, 50,000 Years Until Tomorrow by J.J. Solomon, and with a screenplay penned by David Richardson, Serge DeNardo, and Stephen Amis - the movie is a homage to sci-fi and WWII movies of the 1950's.

"We've gone retro all the way," says Amis, "using cutting-edge technology to re-imagine the works of Ray Harryhausen and classic creature-features. I didn't want to do Michael Bay or James Cameron - I wanted to recall the films of Sam Fuller, George Pal, and Howard Hawks."

Led by visual effects guru, Sheldon Whittaker, the producers recruited small teams of talented artists across the planet to design and build hundreds of high-end visual effects, for what could possibly be the most ambitious low-budget picture ever made.

The 25th Reich was produced in Australia by Lynne Wilson's Pearl Productions, Tait Brady's Acme Film Company, Stephen Amis', Revolution Pictures and Executive Producers', Stevie Kimonides and Mark Kimonides' KIK Group.

Featuring authentic costume designs by Ian Sparke (The Pacific), special makeup effects by Nik Dorning (Lord of the Rings, Australia, Troy and Knowing), editing by Bill Murphy (Romper Stomper, Mary and Max), a Wagnerian, motif-driven score by Ricky Edwards (Shine, Australia, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole), a kick-ass sound design by Chris Goodes (Don't be Afraid of the Dark, Killer Elite), and evocative 1950's cinematography by David Richardson.

Starring, Jim Knobeloch (Heaven’s Gate, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Ponderosa), Serge DeNardo (Greeks on the Roof), Angelo Salamanca, Dan Balcaban and Jak Wyld.

The 25th Reich goosesteps into Australian cinemas in 2013... Stay tuned for more news!

Considering the wacky premise this is a low key affair dominated mostly by moody suspense tracks and action scoring that drags dirge-like; of note are the occasional allusions to Williams's Ark theme from Raiders and Vader's March from Empire, as well as Holst's ostinato from Mars: Bringer of War. The faux theremin brings the whimsy, I suppose.

And the cover art offered such promise. :(
