Hello everyone. I'm hoping I can get people to share their genuine interests. I think it's important even on the internet, their exists always a friendly atmosphere with open mindedness. I want to know more about how people develop their wide range of different tolerance to certain things like anime. I want to know what people think and feel. I think this is a great Community. I hope I can lighten everyone's mood a bit and get everyone to open up a little. Feel free to debate about whatever interests(or not) you.

I agree with Amanda. This will probably turn into a blood fest. But we can at least try to have a friendly debate, cant we?

What are we debating about? Whether anime is tolerable? I would say... about 22%.
Big ups to you for expressing it that way, though. How exactly do people develop a tolerance for most of this shit? I mean, I thought most anime was cool when I was in high school like everybody else, but that was before I had seen very much of it.

@ HeadphonesGirl
Well, you CAN debate about anything... but I wanted just to get people's opinion about WHY they like or dislike certain things. for example, I DO like anime in general. There are just certain emotions you can only feel through anime. BUT the is anime that some consider terrible. Whether this is just because they've 'seen' it before, or if they picky about the animation and stuff I don't know. I can understand if they loathe it for lack of creativity or are just to promote merchandise.
Anime should be a breeding ground for aspiring artists wanting to experiment with new ideas or use their talent to breathe new life in an old genre and find their niche. Still, I don't think you'll see in most places such a diverse world of ideas as you will in anime. The music, story, art, all wrapped in a cute little bow. I wish Hollywood would take some pointers and create more original and interesting stories. I wish I could get rid of the frustration of falling in love with a soundtrack(sound effects, tunes, songs) and later find out their was no 'proper' release for it or it had an incomplete release ( ex: Yu Yu Hakusho ).
I respect people's different tastes in general. If someone recommends me music I listen to it or if anime I watch it. Even if it's not something I might be into I get intrigued and want to know what they like about it. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for exposing me to such various forms of music and culture like anime. I understand this is considered illegal, but I wish sharing all forms of culture to someday become a humanitarian duty.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I view Filesharing as a way to preserve Art. (Ex. How many times have you come across old anime that had amazing soundtracks that were sold out years ago and you were just able to find? But luckily, someone was generous enough to upload it somewhere saving you time or money buying used for $80.00USD) Laws change over time, and I await copyright/patent laws demise. I wish I had much to offer everyone because you've shared so much with me I could never repay. I hope Sarah is doing well, and hope you all well as we all endure through this global "recession."

I like a ot of anime, but there is a lot I don't. I find I enjoy the styles of, say, Ghost in the Shell and Patlabor. The more extreme the style, the less interesting to me. What I do love is how the Japanese take their animated drama to be just as relevant or valid as the non anime material. Here, animated almost always translates to "cartoon", and thus less valid as an art form.

That's a laugh. You're a half-wit, a proven liar, a talker of crap if you will. And again, for someone who was in 'Nam', you were watching anime at school. What's wrong with this timeline? You still claim to be the homosexual twin in your avatar whilst being homophobic at the same time? It's time for your medication, nut job.

In Elementary, it was easy, you talk to people and you became friends, no drama or bullsh@t to put up with. Although, the occassional douche would show up and you got into a fight. I did get bullied and got into many fights, in several schools, but I never started it. When you stand out, you get hated on, that's just how it is..
I was very much left alone during Middle School through High School but didn't make many friends. Most people I 'bumped' into were @ssholes. Then, I found Anime club and things changed. I felt renewed interest in something, a place where people actually valued your opinion, unlike an enviroment where adults tell you what to do and your mostly ignored. Where some girls are so fickle you can't understand what their thinking.
When I stated watching anime, the world started to make sense. I was beginning to see the world for what it was, sh@t.
I have always been a dreamer, and have had several ideas that have actually come to life in one form or another.
@Amanda
I enjoyed Ghost in the Shell too. That sad music in the beginning stayed with me. I just recently discovered Patlabor, while shopping on Amazon. Do you recommend the movies or anime?
@theone2000
Please don't flame, even if you disagree. As I said, I want this to be a place where everyone can speak freely about their likes and dislikes.

I'm OK. Moved recently, I'm really happy with the new place for now. Life isn't perfect, of course. Dan Slott is still writing Spider-Man, I still can't afford to buy a case of Arrogant Bastard every month, and I bought Fire Emblem thinking I would love it and it turns out I think it's casualized animu bullshit.
I was cleaning out my ear the other day with a Q-tip and I pulled out the biggest wad of earwax I've ever seen. I'm pretty happy to have that out of there.
How are you?

What do you mean by "unnatural?" Transvestite? Fake boobs? I don't really care, just thought I'd ask.
Turns out, History class in school is inaccurate to what actually happened. I'm currently reading up on REAL World History. So how can they get away with this in public schools? Personally, I blame Nationalism. Every country loves to paint themselves as squeaky clean and deny all of the shady stuff. If we as humans were able to get everything out into the open without shame, and embrace each other despite our differences, we could TRULY unite as one race, humanity.

I would like to debate that there are no "laundry gnomes" or "washer gnomes" or even "sock gnomes" that leave you with only one good sock.
The washer machine doesn't loose your sock.
You do.
It happens while you are preparing your dirty laundry and a sock falls behind somewhere, out of your direct visual line of sight.
You're most likely multitasking and thinking about different things while doing a very mundane task, so it's easy to neglect the trivial things as a dropped sock.
You're not focused on the task at hand.
Or you drop it on the way to the laundry room. Why you don't see it on the way back? Who knows. Some nice lady in 12J decides to pick it up and leave it at the front in the lost-and-found to be nice. Some kids from 13J are running down the hall screaming and the brother picks up the dirty sock and chases after her sister screaming "I don't even know who's it is!" The toy dog that fits in a purse from 11J sniffs it, loves it, steals it.
Or you drop it when grabbing a bundle of clothes from the washer machine and lugging it carelessly into the dryer and don't even notice it's fallen. By the time you're done your laundry, you see a sock and mistake for someone else's sock and make a disgusting face and ignore it. By the time you realize it was yours, someone was nice enough to quarantine the area and throw out your cancerous sock.
There's a multitude of things that can happen.
But it's never Narnians making elaborate schemes to steal a single sock from you.
Is there a League of Single Socked Gentlemen that go through great measures to make a whole pair?
Are the bugs and insects so crafty and wily that they have been outsmarting us all these years and playing psychological warfare on us be leaving us the riddle of the sock?
Are we meant to climb a mountain and find a rare blue flower to bring to some yoga master where we can spend 10 years in training to learn the truth about one single sock?
No. You are the problem. Not the world around you. You are.
