Original score by Dominic Frontiere
Original Broadcast 10/28/1963
"There are travelers in time, Noelle. There are people in tomorrow's cities;
living, breathing strangers whom you never see, but who are there, just the same.
And, instead of the glorious future all men envisioned, there is only a dark and empty road, leading to misery and mourning.
This is the world from which I came, Noelle...a world of tomorrow...
a world you will help make."

SYNOPSIS
"The Man Who Was Never Born" is a sensitive fantasy about, Andro (Landau), a man from a future Earth must travel back in time to prevent the birth of Bertram Cabot, Jr. by any means possible.
Cabot Jr. will grow up to turn the world into a wasteland.
Andro lands on the eve of the wedding of Cabot's parents (Knight and Considine) and must decide if he's capable of murder to save the future generations.
Overall, this is one of the greatest Outer Limits episodes. Martin Landau delivers an outstanding performance in the title role with great support by Shirley Knight. Conrad Hall's soft-focus black/white photography and Leonard Horn's incisive direction complement Anthony Lawrence's spare, compact screenplay to create a powerful
viewing experience.

THE SOUNDTRACK
"The Man Who Was Never Born" is another masterpiece by Dominic Frontiere in terms of melodic invention and size of orchestra. It’s staggeringly beautiful, with Frontiere’s score evoking the bond growing between Andro and Noelle. Two of my favorites: "Andro & Noelle Theme" and "Time Crossed Lovers" are rich with strings and woodwinds that exemplify the fantasy element of the film.
You may notice that track #09 "Bertram Cabot Junior" is repeated in tracks #10 "The Library (Moments Men & Places)" and #11 "Here Lies The Protected History Of Man". I'm not sure why Frontieri did this, other than using the former as muted background music.
Also note that two tracks, #14 "What If Bertram Cabot Junior Had Never Been born" & #36 "I Was Never Born!"have been doctored from the DVD, since quality material was not available. On a whole though, I think you'll really enjoy this soundtrack.
