Firstly, if you are a completist then this might not be for you, this is a representation of the two already available commercial releases and nothing more.
I have been on the search for a lossless version of the Gladiator Recording Sessions for some time. Previous shares of the sessions have been low quality unfortunately, so the search continues.
Because of this I thought it would be nice for a new and fresh listening experience out of the two official releases. I disliked the fact i couldnt put tracks in an order as many were made to blend together. I also did not want to make an expanded version using everything as it has already been done before, i wanted to try something different. Only a selected amount of tracks have been used, just major themes and cues to make the listen flow nicely and not overly long. At around 75 mins long and free of any dialogue i feel this is the perfect length to enjoy the score in one whole listen. Quality over quantity is what i always say. Fans very familiar of both discs of the OST should be able to notice the changes however small or big they are.

Gladiator is a score that is very personal to me along with Titanic as they are the reasons i got into film music.
I hope you enjoy this as much as i have enjoyed making it. Any feedback is welcome as i can only try harder to improve. Please remember this is a representation.

i never realised you had it tbh. the loudness is indeed harsh, but even when i tried adjusting volume its still there. i think it has something to do with the way it was recorded as even the sessions have a bit of loudness, not as much but still there.

after making track 09 'win the crowd....win your freedom' better, i was still not entirely happy with it. At around the 4:20 minute mark, i edited with 'secrets' but the merge is a bit boomy and doesnt fit the timing very well so i used the start of 'barbarian horde' to make the merge more smoothly and seamlessly into 'secrets'. I am much more happy with this change and im sorry you have to mess around again downloading and deleting, but i couldnt just let you listen to something that isnt perfect. Compare the two tracks and you will know what i mean. Link is below and enjoy :)

I also have this version. Basically some tracks begin and end too sudden and unaturally. It just ruins the listen IMO. Plus the arrangement of some tracks don't fit well either

Interesting about the vinyl edition (which I didn't know was pressed). Would really love for this to be shared. I for one actually think some vinyl edition are far better than cd versions. The dark knight, tron, and inception.

Yeah, It wasn't a huge improvement but definitely better than the cd. The loudness was there in parts, like ' mombassa'

Well, now it depends. I only listened to it as 16Bit and the way you downscale it counts, because it can be very irritating compared to another. And it is definitely not to be listened on headphones either way. I wonder if the best version I downscaled for my Hi-Fi wasn't an undithered one in fact, wich preserved more range. It may break a few details, but I don't need the detail regarding that vinyl version as far as the more detailed sound comes from the cracks. Not for audiophile purposes, definitely, just the quality of the depth for my Hi-Fi to bring what it has itself. A big sweet hearthquake.

You don't want that version, trust me. it is a really bad edit. Not to boost my ego or anything but until a legit high quality mp3 or lossless versions pop up of the sessions/expanded score this is really all you need imo. All major themes and cues are present. In fact most of the score is just copy and paste. very repetitive in complete form.

Likewise. I enjoy his music, and that's all there is to it. I don't go stating that "he's one of the best composers ever" (which is a bit of an overstatement), I just listen to his music when I can. The same can be said about not liking his music - instead a lot of people bitch and say they hate him. MoS got a lot of flack. It's OK if you don't like it, but you don't gotta go postal about it

thank you very much for the kind words! it really does give me real pleasure when someone enjoys an edit of mine. not in a big head type of way but in the sense that this is an hans zimmer score and most prefer complete scores or original ost without tampering.
the reason i left them out was because i wanted it to be 1 disc. i didn't want to drag the score out. i wanted a pleasurable listen. also some of those tracks had dialogue which was my main rule to leave out. i love those tracks also but in the end they just wouldn't have worked for me. they can always be added in by yourself obviously as most tracks do not blend into each other.
and for titanic, i honestly think its nice as it is because thats what the tracks were re recorded for, an ost release.
I've made an edit of black hawk down if you are interested. just check my created threads.

I Am sorry I haven't had much time to do this. However it is very easy to do yourself. Download a converter called xld for Mac or if you are using a pc download

Does anyone would have the film version of the german battle track please ? On the film version, there is an expanded theme when maximus arrives to the front and look at his men.
I had the track on a mp3 complete version but the sound was really bad.
