Based on these portions, for these films at any rate, Fusco did not so much impart a signature style as tailor his scores toward the needs and images of specific movies. The 12 short tracks from L'Avventura are spare, brooding classical- toned, orchestrated pieces with a whiff of quizzical, swirling mystery. In contrast, the four cuts from the L'Eclisse score vary between ersatz early-'60s twist-style rock & roll and cool lounge jazz. The concluding five tracks from Deserto Rosso are more adventurous and eclectic, including an eerie mix of space-age industrial sounds and high wordless vocals ("Astrale") and more chintzy early-'60s rock & roll-styled sounds ("Happy Surf,"/"Il Surf Della Luna"). - AllMusic
