Re-upped and upgraded to FLAC. Link below. My rip. Please add to my reputation!
This album features an extended suite from Russian composer Georgy Sviridov's (1915-1998) film score The Snow Storm (1964), which features
some lovely themes. Stylistically, you could compare it to Shostakovich's The Gadfly, i.e. mostly lyrical and charming. Sviridov (Гео́ргий Васи́льевич Свири́дов)
was a popular composer in the Soviet Union, his theme for the motion picture Time, Forward! was used as the signature tune for the state television evebving
news for many years. He specialized in music for Alexander Pushkin's tales (on- & off-screen) as well as choral music (of which the Cantata "Snow is Falling" on
this album is a fine example) and songs. Also included is a nice Miniature Triptych for small orchestra.
Enjoy! Don't share! :)
