Maybe this happens every time a big new score comes out, maybe not. I don't know; I have not been around here for so long. But one thing I do know for sure is that there are way too many TDKR threads, which is understandable to a certain extent, considering the varying origins of the bonus tracks, trailer music, etc. Beyond that extent, things get excessive. In an effort to simplify matters for current and future passersby of this score, I am creating this mega-thread to organize all the material that is presently available for this film.

The Chant

Thread 97920
The oldest link I can find, I guess it was for a possibly demo version of the Deshi Basara chant.

Thread 117655
An extended version of the Chant heard in the above link (I think).

Trailer Music

Thread 109531
The Prologue as reorchestrated by our very own FFDream10 by ear. This man has a stellar talent.

Thread 113672
Trailer 3 reorchestrated by FFDream10

Thread 114257
Trailer 3 ripped from a 5.1 channel source

Thread 116041
Download link for the stems used in Trailer 3 (made available for some contest or another)

Thread 117172
Same as above link

Thread 117541
A custom arrangement of the Trailer 4 music, plus some other music by FFDream10

Thread 118170
I don't understand this one

30-Second Samples (I'm not sure why we'd need them now, but I also didn't understand why we needed so many of them before the OST was released.)

Thread 115926
Not an actual download link. The second post does have a link, though. Came from Batman News

Thread 115933
From Exlibris

Thread 115935
From Exlibris

Thread 117526
Completely different from the Exlibris samples

Thread 117889
A compilation of all the available 30-second samples

Thread 117995

The Actual For Real Original Soundtrack!

Thread 118007
But not in this link; this just links to a streaming site where the whole OST can be heard.

Thread 118110
OST in FLAC

Thread 118083
The track available from purchasing a ticket (?)

Thread 118108
The two bonus tracks that aren't the Junkie XL remix, plus the track available from purchasing a ticket

Thread 118140
OST plus the three bonus tracks available from purchasing the CD

Thread 118327
The OST and bonus tracks arranged in film order. I find this to be quite astounding considering the film isn't even out yet!

Thread 118394
Don't let the label "Complete" mislead you. This is only a complete collection of all the music that is currently available.

Thread 118446
Same release as the above link? I don't know; what I do know is that it is over 2GB of music in FLAC.

Thread 118572
The OST in ~228kbps mp3.

The Actual Complete Motion Picture Score (and then a couple fan edits created from said sessions)

Thread 121711
The complete score (recording sessions?) for TDKR as posted by scorepranos.

Thread 122064
A fan-made edit of scorepranos' upload with some bonus tracks such as the Z+ App music thrown in as well as trailer music.

Thread 123538
Another upload of TOMANDANDY's upload (seen above this link); honestly these threads should be merged.

Other
Thread 117240

Thread 118326
A custom composition from FFDream10; his take on what the finale of the movie could sound like.

Thread 118367
[details unknown]

Thread 118368
The music extracted from the app in both original uncut 98kbps m4a, and divided up into the four tracks preserved in FLAC.

Thread 118564
Hans Zimmer's original tribute to the Colorado shooting. It is strongly recommended, if there is one single bit of music you buy in your lifetime, that you donate money to obtain this track.

And be sure to check out this thread: Thread 118546 (Thread 118546), your one-stop shop for all original, expanded, and complete releases of music from Hans Zimmer's and James Newton Howard's Batman (Dark Knight) trilogy, available in both FLAC and mp3!!

Let me know if there's anything I missed, and I'll also try to update this from time to time.

I thought I was a bit severe with this soundtrack but after reading filmtracks review I can only say the reviewer hates zimmer.

Sanico
07-17-2012, 01:05 AM
No, Clemmensen from filmtracks doesn't hates Zimmer. A quick look to the ratings of his other reviews on the Zimmer scores, with plenty of 4 stars and one 5 star album, demonstrates that he doesn't have nothing against Zimmer in general.

The thing is that he don't like the approach that the music took on this Batman franchise, and explains it why on all three Batman score reviews.

It seems that many of Zimmer's fans can't seem to accept any kind of opinion that isn't dripping with praise, and have to validate their love of something by trashing everything around it, which is why the Filmtracks Spider-Man review is now becoming an attack ground for Zimmer fans. They HAVE to bash Horner's score to justify their love of Zimmer.

It's not because it's Horner either. We all know this because when both Begins and TDK came out, Elfman's Batman was trashed and then some.
I am more than certain that when "Man Of Steel" comes out, those same fans will bash and trash Williams and his Superman theme.

They can't just love or accept something for its own merits. Hell, they can't seem to articulate WHY they love Zimmer's music, they only resort to attacking everyone who doesn't love it. There's no reasoning or possibility of a genuine discussion with that kind of fan. Not worth the trouble, really.

Love it, worship it, or fuck off is the mantra.

I agree 100 percent with that Filmtracks review of TDKR, and I'm a fan of the previous scores. Zimmer over-hyped his music and didn't deliver what he said he was going to. Filmtracks called him out on it (and always calls him out on it because Zimmer is always full of hyperbolic comments about his own music, and his fans just seem to follow suit) and gets attacked yet again. I love the previous two Batman scores, and yet I also agree with why the Filmtracks reviews take issue with the approaches. Seeing both sides of Two-Face's coin, so to speak and happening to agree with both. I think it's because the music simply works in the context of what are two, soon to be three utterly fantastic pieces of filmmaking and storytelling, that I enjoy them as much as I do, especially considering that they contain all of the elements I don't enjoy in Zimmer's music but for whatever reason I give a total free pass on in these scores.

Most of the time it's those very out-there fans saying how "Stupid Americans" can't see the great genius of Hans (or in one of the threads on Filmtracks' board, 'Hans The Great') and are biased against not only Germans, but all Europeans.

Or something to that effect, anyway.

I know how stupid that sounds, but I couldn't make it up if I tried. It's too ridiculous to make up!

It's not limited to Filmtracks either, not by a long shot.

Take a look at the hans-zimmer website and it's the same thing - trash everything and everyone who has even the slightest difference of opinion that isn't full praise and worship. Trash everything that would be considered to be competition (even if it really isn't).

I was recently ejected from a certain super hero messageboard for calling people out on their trashing of other scores just to validate their love of TDKR's score, and labeled a troll and suspended for it. Not going back, because it just isn't worth it to waste time on people so closed-minded.

I have to say, the only parts of this particular score I enjoy are the direct references to the first two scores, and in some cases (Despair, Rise being two examples) it's because cues were literally cut-and-pasted from those into this one. The parts that are new arrangements (such as Imagine The Fire being a new take on Back Up from Batman Begins) are okay, but hampered by the less-than-stellar synths which sound more like demo material than those of a professional with millions of dollars of technology at his disposal.

I'll for sure enjoy the score within the context of the film (which was the primary reason I made those "Film Music Highlights" videos for BB and TDK for people here to download) but as a standalone album, I'd rather just listen to the sessions for BB and TDK for better representations of this music. The Bane music is more along the lines of Inception so I'm not very fond of that. To each their own.

I am thankful for everyone who uploaded it and the bonuses, though. They are worth a listen even if not in the long-term.

EDIT:

Thanks eaglesfan for the booklet.

if I may chime in old chap...

I give Props to Zimmer for cleverly NOT using the Batman "HERO" theme in the score (made present in the Dark Knight) until the very end, which I'm sure most of you who have read the spoilers by now already know what this means, by this point.

However I have to agree. To me Zimmer will always be a mix between John Carpenter and Vangelis - on Crack Cocaine...or, if you want to get more simplistic about it - he is every 80s movie theme music involving synths - restructured and reprised on Crystal Meth.

I don't hate his stuff...Well not all of his stuff - but I do also realize his stuff isn't as complex as he portends it, and he goes through the motions most of the time. But that's his style...The droning synth. I used to have an old electric church organ in the 80s where you could choose different synth instruments by clicking the appropriate switch: trombone, tuba, trumpet, violin, etc. One day I turned them ALL on to see what they would all sound like at once...And you know what? Zimmer's music reminds me of that.

I don't care what anyone says negatively about this soundtrack, personally, it's a Zimmer score, and it's a Bat-score, so I love it, even if it's lacking the touch of James Newton Howard.

darkknight1978
07-17-2012, 07:18 PM
So after listening to the score I can say I am excited even more to see the movie. But regarding the music in the most recent Trailer (#4), I can only hope this cue appears in an expanded score that will undoubtedly come out when the BR hits (just like TDK).

Some guy pointed that the Deluxe edition of the OST is now available at HDTracks (quite rare for OSTs !) : https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=catalogdetail&valbum_code=HX794043160493

So, maybe the 3 bonus tracks in lossless ?

It's US resident anyway, so I won't be able to check myself !!

No, just what you see in the track list there is available. For sale, anyway.
Behind closed doors and passed under tables where people pass rare material...
:itsamystery:

I think they get their licenses directly from the publishers and distributors. Which is only for the official retail albums and not anything released outside those licensing terms.

Just like if they were to do Angels & Demons or Sherlock Holmes, they would only have the retail album tracks and not the free downloads.
A&D: H20 only in 320
SH1: Holmes (Hans 'n' Guy Version) in 320

The other bonus tracks outside the Deluxe wouldn't be available in Audiophile. On HDtracks, anyway.
You'd need to infiltrate the studio and get your hands on the masters.

Updated with darth2602's film edit (?!) and FFDream10's custom composition--which by the reactions, sounds like it is better than the actual real score! (I have not listened to it yet.)

Also: Oh my God, I've never seen a post that long before in my life. Ranting is okay to a certain extent, but when you yak that long about how bad a Zimmer score is in the ultimate thread dedicated to that score, it is not so nice. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, though; it's just that it can be a bit tough differentiating between what is fact and what is opinion.

Actually, Mr Fate, while the link at the bottom, The Dark Knight Trilogy Resources Thread, is indeed a very good resource, I have had trouble today with getting some of the score tracks -- let me ask you this: Are the links above the DKRTR thread links to all of the complete studio masters, OST and extended score tracks for TDKR on this single page? Also, is The Dark Knight Trilogy Resources Thread meant to be a companion to the DKR tracks in your link or are your links replacements for the DKR resource thread?

The Trilogy Resources Thread is for everything related to the Chris Nolan reboot.
This thread is just for stuff from Rises like the fan-edits for Batman Chased and Chasing The Convoy East/A Hero Can Be Anyone. Just, stuff from the last movie.

I have the "The Dark Knight Rises_ Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Deluxe Edition)" from HDTracks and I have to say the sound is awesome!
Those downloaded 18 tracks takes 4,5 GB space (HQ 192/24) though!
I can't post it here but you can send me a PM and we could talk ;) (about the music of course).

Here is my 'Complete Film Version Score' to 'The Dark Knight Rises', finally.

Here is what I did:
Objectively listened to the tracks in the film, fading them in, cutting where needed, added all the suites to a third disc since there are many more composed compared to 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' (another Complete Film Version Score by me, done with the same method) and obviously renamed in a neat and pretty much (I hope) clear all the tracks. Unfortunately, the covers aren't custom, and are therefore not included, but I would appreciate it greatly if, by any chance, someone ever chose to make some. Well, other than this, which isn't important: PLEASE, DO ENJOY, and FEEDBACK IS PRECIOUS BY ALL OF YOU.

The track listing is the following:
CD1:
1. The Fire Rises and The Truth About Harvey Dent
2. Room Service
3. Selina's Safe Cracking
4. He Was The Batman
5. Nothing Out There
6. Underground Army
7. Blake's Visit and Hospital
8. For Old Times' Sake
9. Stock Exchange and Batman Returns
10. Clean Slate and Rooftop Fight
11. Handing Over the Reactor
12. I'm Gotham's Reckoning
13. Bruce and Miranda/Take Me to Bane
14. The Shadows Betray You
15. Airport Detainee
16. No True Despair Without Hope
17. Activating Reactor and Cops into Sewers

CD2:
1. Instrument of Your Liberation
2. Gotham Is Yours
3. There's A Storm Going On
4. No Ordinary Child and Special Forces
5. Why Do We Fall?
6. Death By Exile
7. Come With Me
8. To Die With Your City
9. Imagine The Fire
10. A Hero Can Be Anyone
11. They Know Who It Was
12. End Credits
13. The End

CD3:
1. Moody Bruce New Hero Suite
2. Bane Suite
3. Cat Suite
4. Moody Bruce New Transfiguration Suite
5. A Dark Knight Suite
6. Bane Action Mezzo Suite

Including that post, out of all the linked threads in the first post, only 4 are still open/active.
I went through and checked a bunch.
Those from 2012 or so with no re-ups in the first post got closed. We don't need those spammed with requests for re-ups.
It's better to use the Request section of the forum and make your requests.
In most cases, OP's have abandonded their thread and probably didn't subscribe to their own created thread so most likely will not see any requests in those threads for re-ups. And probably won't check back unless they see their thread on the first page at the time they sign in. An extreme probability that doesn't merrit the threads staying open.

I also merged 2 threads since they were the same.
