Hey everyone, stumbled across this great forum at last.
I'll prob post mostly be in the FF7 room as to me this is the best game ever, most emotional and atmospheric, 7 years on and im still playing it and getting sad when things happen.
When people always ask me what the big deal is with Final Fantasy games i can only say its like reading a really good book you get so involved in but you can shape the way things happen, but its much much better than a book.
Anyhow, i've just bought the platinum version to replace my 7 yr old copy and the guide to boot for a good read, and i came up with a little theory...
Dont flame me or blow me out of the water with this, im a noob and its just an idea and rpg's are all about imagination ;)
Could Ifalna (Aeris's real mom which im sure i dont need to point out) or possibly even Aeris been injected with Jenova cells?
Think about it, Gast and Hojo had them as experiments. No doubt they would have figured from blood tests and DNA tests etc that Ifalna and Jenova werent the same species, Jenova originally believed to have been an Ancient and all.
So could part of the experiment have been injecting jenova cells into Ifalna or vice versa? Could this be inherited at birth by Aeris?
This could explain why Gast was taking care of her at the icicle inn area, he could of felt guilt for the experiments conducted on Ifalna at Shinra HQ. Then what started out as guilt could of turned into good old fashioned love.
Anyhow back to my idea. Ifalna no doubt was haunted by these experiments as you would expect. So why after Hojo and his hencemen turned up and killed Gast would she return to Midgar after she escaped?
Now down to why i believe the jenova cell idea...
If what Hojo and Sephiroth call Jenova Reunion (reintegrating eventually of all Jenova parts even if separated) was true, could this explain why Ifalna along with Aeris went straight into the hands of the enemy? (back to midgar)
Ok we could go with the idea that the closer to danger the further from harm and that Shinra wouldnt look right on there doorstep for them first of all could of bought them a somewhat peaceful life, but still, all the way from the North icicle are, so remote, so long for Hojo to find them like he said (2 years?) why not go somewhere else remote like Mideel, or various other places.
Hell why not go all the way to the Ancient City, Ifalna was injured, yet they go all the way back to Midgar. This is where the 2nd part of my idea came in. Ifalna was the only trueblood ancient. Maybe she was able to resist the pull of the Jenova cells. But MAYBE they passed on to her daughter Aeris. Aeris was Gasts and Ifalna's daughter making her half human, half ancient. So just ask Cloud (and argueably Sephiroth) were being influenced by the Jenova cells within to reunite with the rest of Jenova (both of them being human) maybe it was Aeris's human weaker side that led them to Midgar. Ifalna injured, no doubt weak, unconcious maybe half the time, Aeris would have to make her own decisions, so why Midgar? Maybe Midgar being the most technologically advanced city Aeris believed Ifalnas best chance of a recovery was from the medical facilities there, while she was unwittingly being influenced by Jenova?
Im the last person who would like to believe anything but perfect thoughts about Aeris but all of this makes sense.
Then we have her returning north once Sephiroth has broken into Shinra HQ and reclaimed the Jenova specimen. (this ties in with other peoples thoughts of Sepiroth being Jenovas pawn, he already had the head right, and frozen in materia wasnt going anywhere fast, so why not have his clone/avatar bring the body to the head?
So then Aeris does a u-turn and feels the pull in the north....
Then we have her rushing off into the night to the ancient city on her own. Could this of been the pull of Jenova? An unbearable pull calling her there, getting her alone so Sephiroth could do his deed and eliminate the threat of the white materia?
Aeris would of known the party would follow her anyway, she even told Cloud in his dream/vision where she was going so not as if she wouldnt of expected it, so why not wait for everyone? Jenova cells slipping into overdrive to get her alone i think is a valid idea.
Anyhow im sure i've missed a few more thoughts to do with this out but no doubt i've bored you rigid. Just a new thought i've never seen anybody come up with before. And if you re-read it and have a good think not out of the realm of possibilty.
******also i have recorded some vids of "Aeris's 'ghost'" which i'll host this sunday if anybody wants them. You'll be surprised at how this backs up the unfinished game theory and possible the resurrection theory (i dont believe you can do it as it is sadly, but i think that was the intention of the programmers before time ran out)******
